My name is Ron Szoczei (pronounced soot-see) and I am the owner-operator of Harley Appraisals / Motorcycle Appraisal Service, offering honest and precise motorcycle appraisals to customers online and off, from across Canada and the US. Passionate about motorcycles since the 1970s, I have been actively working in the motorcycle industry and enjoying many of the enthusiast associations for three decades. To this day, I continue my involvement and association with several organizations. Some of my responsibilities have included: Parts Man at Harley dealerships, Service Department Writer, and the General Manager of two custom bike building shops, one of which I was a part owner of. In years past, I have been involved with various committees with the BCCOM (British 5 star canadian pharmacy Columbia Coalition of Motorcyclists
) and I was on the board of directors for the Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association for over four years.
Motorcycle Industry Involvement
I have filled the function of Race Director and Technical Inspector for no less than three racing seasons. I have also been an invited judge at numerous motorcycle show-and-shine competitions. I’ve completed the requirements as a certified judge with the IMBBA (International Master Bike Builders Association
) at the CANADIAN BIKER BUILD-OFF #4 in Welland, ONT in 2008. In addition, I am a charter member of the CBA (Custom Bike Association
), and have been named as a Chairman of the motorcycle division of the Appraisal Standards Committee with the NAACC (National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada
A leader in motorcycle appraising
My extensive motorcycle experience and mechanical involvement has given me insight into products and procedures that might be overlooked by appraisers who don’t specialize in motorcycles. In 1999, I set out to develop a system for evaluating customized motorcycles based on industry-recognized standards. With my experience in market trends, valuations and pricing and the help of some technologically-minded partners, we developed a software program honed specifically to the motorcycle industry. With this software, I became a subcontractor for the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) to satisfy the claims they were having difficulty with. I worked on their files for about a year and a half establishing my credibility with ICBC before going public in 2000.
“The Appraisal Guy”
Over the years, I have come to be known as “The Appraisal Guy”, since having been relied upon by numerous insurance companies, claim estimators, lawyers, and private clients – locally and nationally – as far away as Florida. Here are some of the reasons so many have come to me for their appraisals:
- I am qualified to perform fair market valuations and post loss evaluations on any type of motorcycle.
- I offer specific expertise in customized bikes.
- I maintain a good working relationship with the North American industry and many of its suppliers.
- I can evaluate motorcycles over the internet based on photographs, documentation, and research to establish an accurate declared value prior to insuring, for the purpose of a fair market value in the event of a total loss, or to assess damages in the case of an accident.
